Hi, I'm Melissa.
Whether you're here because you’ve read one of my stories, stumbled across me on social media or in real life, or are just curious, I’m glad you found your way.
I write children’s fiction that explores the wonder of nature, and the quiet power of human connection; tales with heart and meaning; and stories with silly shenanigans too!
Feel free to stay awhile. And if I can help in any way —please do connect.
Here's my story
Teacher, journalist, Mum
When I'm not writing, I'm an English teacher who's worked in schools all over the world - England, Switzerland, Tanzania, Kenya, even China and Fiji. Right now I work part time in the beautiful literary town of Cheltenham. I absolutely love being in the classroom and helping students discover the power of language.
Before teaching, I trained as a journalist, and spent some time in the world of PR, marketing and copywriting, where I had an amazing mentor who kick started this whole writing journey. It's been a winding path to becoming an author!
I am also a Mum of two amazing kids, and I am very proud to say that both my children love stories!

Traveller, photographer, writer
Almost as strong as my love of stories, is my love of travel. I always have a giant list of places I want to visit (or live in!). Along the way I developed a keen interest in wildlife photography - plus I found strong images helped to sell my articles. It was only around ten years ago that I realised all the things I'd been doing come together perfectly in one space - picture books! The way words and pictures work together to make so much more than the sum of their parts in picture books is pure magic!
